The
Metro Group The
Metro Group is a group of women which meets once a month for fellowship
and service
to St. John’s as well as the wider church community. Our programs
are designed around three key words in our prayer: Worship,
Learning and Service. The Group is celebrating its 50th
anniversary with a Spring Luncheon for all the women in the parish
on Saturday, April 19th, 2008.
New members
are always welcome. We meet the third Monday of the month from
September to June at 7:00 PM in the Garnsworthy Room.

Contemplative Prayer Group
Devote
yourself to prayer, keeping alert in it with thanksgiving...
that God will open to us a door for the word and declare the
mystery of Christ. (Colossians 4: 2- 3)
The
Toronto Contemplative Prayer group resumes meeting again this
fall weekly on Wednesdays from October 10, 2007 at St John's Church
from 7:30- 9:30 pm. This fall we are reading a book entitled 'Prayer'
by Abhishiktananda, a Benedictine monk who lived for many years
in India.
For more information contact Bruce Williams 416-221-3256.
The
Chancel Guild
The Chancel Guild focuses on maintaining an atmosphere of beauty
and reverence at St. John’s. This is a quiet, "behind-the-scenes"
ministry for those who love to help create a sacred space for worship.
The Chancel Guild prepares St Johns' for worship on Sundays and
during the week through the preparation of the sacred vessels and
linens. Beyond regular services, the Guild sets up for the holy
days, cares for the linens, communion silver, liturgical hangings,
candles, and brasses which are used in the various services. It
also maintains the needlework, and arranges for flowers to adorn
the church. Members
of the Chancel Guild arrange the flowers that adorn the Church
on Sundays – in the Chancel, Chapel, Baptistery, and on the Ledge.
Members also deliver flowers to parishioners who are ill or 'shut-in'
following the Sunday services. For the Harvest, Christmas, and
Easter festivals, the entire Guild gathers to decorate the Church.
If you are
interested in contributing in this way to St John’s, please contact
Pamela Smith (pamela.smith@idirect.com)
- the head of the Altar Guild.
The Chancel
Guild will be meeting on September 29 at 10:30 a.m. for their
quarterly meeting.
